Co-Brand site for The Cheltenham Ladies' College Health and Fitness Centre, and associated commercial activities.
Brief
Managed by a separate fitness team with its own unique identity, should feel familiar to the main College identity, while being as easy to edit and maintain.
3 core intentions for the site, promote facilities provided for fitness, facilitate new membership, provide members access to facilities timetables as certain areas are unavailable during the school day.
Created in 2017, development started life from a foundation of Silverstripe CMS using the College's main site as a core template, further details on how the core template was created are available on the Core Project page.
Visual updates to the template with the Fitness branding, allowed the core template to be used to promote the facilities the health and fitness center offered.
Membership for the sports center was managed by an internal system that did not have an API or any way to be embeded into the site. While an alternative was sourced Custom membership forms were created for the site, that allowed the initial enquiry which could be followed up by a member of the administration team.
Timetabling for members to view access to facilities was complex, since certain areas of the facilities were out of bounds to members during the school day, or school events. The timetables significantly changed during weekends, and school holidays where these restrictions did not apply.
The existing systems did not track the school activities, since the fitness team were different to the schools PE department. A custom timetable template was created in Silverstripe, allowing members to view and filter the timetables for the facilities. Custom views were also created to allow the timetables to be printed and put up around the facility.
